PRIMARY FUNCTION

Installs, repairs, erects, dismantles, assembles and maintains all types of plant machinery, equipment, structures, and electrical or electronic equipment and component parts.

Includes such skills as: mechanical maintenance, carpenter work, plumbing, welding, electrical, small machine tool operation, sheet metal work, masonry work, etc.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Various Trade tools, power and hand tools, measuring and testing instruments, etc.

TYPICAL DUTIES

1. Works from complex blue prints, wiring diagrams, shop hand books, layouts and other specifications (written or verbal) to determine materials and working procedures needed in the maintenance of plant machinery, equipment and structures.

2. Installs, maintains, repairs, dismantles, overhauls reassembles, adjusts and test various types of plant machinery, equipment structures and electrical or electronic equipment and component parts.

3. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical or electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, principles of operation and application of electrical or electronic equipment such as motors, switches, control boards, generators, circuit breakers, electronic inspection units, etc.

4. Welds, brazes, scrapes, solders, cuts, etc. various types of metals necessary for maintenance repairs and fabrication of new componenets and equipment.

5. Performs a variety of trade functions such as a plumber, mason, carpenter and sheet metal worker, etc. in performance duties which require the necessary skills and working ability.

6. Constructs rigging and scaffolding; moves heavy machinery and equipment; lubricates greases, oils, etc., plant machinery and equipment.

Position Requirements:

Journeyman cardholder preferred OR 4 years of relevant/related work experience with a 2 year technical degree.
Must pass a pre-employment aptitude test
Must have qualified Electrical/Electronic training skills.
Experience in 480v motors and controls.
Experience reading blue prints, wiring diagrams, shop hand books and layouts.
Experience installing, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting various types of plant machinery.
Experience welding, brazing, soldering various types of metals to repair and fabricate new components and equipment.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis
Must be able to work a rotating schedule, with weekend and holiday requirements
