Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for set-up of molding machines, mixing material, and staging the plastic injection molding work centers with raw materials and supplies needed to manufacture scheduled product, as well as ensuring safety, quality, and production expectations are met. Provides back up coverage in the absence of Senior Mold Technician.
Coordinates work assignments of employees in molding department.
Clean hoppers and filters, plastic granulators. Mixing plastic resin per BOMs as needed.
Responsible for setting up work area and obtaining appropriate equipment and materials.
Remove all finished production from Molding Department.
Set up and adjust plastic injection molding machines, install molds, set molding cycle (i.e. times, pressures, temperatures)
Inspect molds, purge water lines, clean mold faces and cavities, apply rust preventatives, and return molds to proper storage shelves.
Perform minor repairs on molding machines and support equipment.
Set-up, basic maintenance, and operation of molding presses correct any malfunctions during operation and/or improper ejection of parts.
Perform visual and physical inspection of component parts and materials. Separate parts with substandard quality for proper disposal or re work.
Use measuring devices such as scales and rulers.
Perform basic computer functions such as printing labels, process sheets, BOMs, entering production receipts, daily labor reporting.
Inform Molding Operations Manager when repairs, replacement parts, or supplies are needed.
Communicate effectively with internal (i.e. molding machine operators, production team) and external customers.
Assist with coaching and training molding machine operators to ensure accurate and timely production.
Maintain a clean and functioning work area per 5S standards.
Perform related duties (including those in other areas of production) as assigned by supervisor.
Follow all company safety guidelines including wearing the proper protective equipment for job assignment.
Maintain compliance with all company guidelines and procedures.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Basic verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively read and follow process sheets and production documents.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
Must possess valid drivers license, as well as the ability to be certified in Class A forklift operation.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting, preferably with injection molding machines.
Ability to understand written material and ability to write using correct spelling and punctuation; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using fractions or decimals.
Basic computer knowledge and skills.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Regularly requires bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.
Regularly requires standing, walking, and/or lifting/handling/carrying materials/ equipment of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds).

Environment:
Typically, in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.
